As a "precision tool" for construction decoration, equipment installation and other scenarios, the laser level has become an essential tool in the industry due to its convenient operation and precise positioning. Its seemingly simple "line casting" function hides a set of efficient "automatic leveling mechanisms", and during use, human eye safety protection is a core point that cannot be ignored.
On the principle of automatic leveling, gravity sensing is the core technical support. The instrument is equipped with a high-precision suspended pendulum assembly. The pendulum can be linked with the laser emission module through a flexible suspension structure. No matter whether the machine is slightly tilted due to uneven ground or shaking hands during construction (most products can support automatic correction within a range of ±3°), the pendulum will always remain vertical to the ground under the action of gravity. When the pendulum is stable, its linked laser calibration system will instantly adjust the emission angle to ensure that the red or green laser line accurately projects an absolutely horizontal or vertical baseline. Some high-end models will also use electronic sensors to assist monitoring, further improving the leveling speed and accuracy to avoid mechanical errors affecting the construction effect.
In terms of human eye safety protection, the choice of laser grade is directly related to the safety of use. The safety level of laser levels is divided into four levels according to international standards: Class Ⅰ, Class Ⅱ, Class Ⅱb, and Class Ⅳ. Ordinary consumers and home improvement practitioners must give priority to Class Ⅰ or Class Ⅱ products. Class Ⅰ laser power is extremely low (usually ≤0.39mW), and it will not cause damage to the human eye even if it is exposed to it for a long time. Class Level II power is slightly higher (≤1mW), but short-term exposure (within a few seconds) will not cause retinal damage, and the human eye will naturally produce an eye-closing reflex due to strong light, further reducing the risk. Special attention should be paid to resolutely avoiding high-power models of Class IIb (power 1-5mW) and Class IV (power > 5mW). This type of product is mostly used for high-precision industrial operations. Its laser beam can not only burn the retina, but may even cause damage to the skin if exposed directly for a long time. It is completely unsuitable for ordinary civilian scenarios. In addition, it is necessary to avoid pointing the laser line directly into the eyes of others during use. Children should operate under adult supervision to eliminate safety hazards from the source.
