How Precision Levels Work
The vial is the core part. Accuracy depends on vial quality and sensitivity.
0.020 mm/m sensitivity: Bubble moves 1 graduation (2mm spacing) = 20μm tilt over 1 meter.
Barrel-ground inner vial curvature matches sensitivity.
0.020 mm/m ≈ 200m inner radius
0.500 mm/m ≈ 5m inner radius
Main Body & Base Design
Material: Stress-free cast iron or special steel. Heat treatment removes internal stress.
Base: Two contact surfaces for stable placement.
Prismatic base: For shafts and spindles.
Magnetic inserts: For metal surface mounting.
Key process: Vial axis aligned parallel to base via lapping & hand scraping. Eliminates twist error when placed slightly off-center.
Zero Adjustment & Twist Error Correction
Twist stability keeps measurements accurate even with minor tilting. A simple adjustment system lets you reset zero and fix twist errors quickly.
What Causes Twist Error
Residual stress release in cast iron/steel bodies over time.
Shock during shipping or long-term uneven storage.
Extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C) causing uneven expansion.
Why It Matters
Uncorrected twist gives false readings. A 0.01 mm/m fake tilt on machine rails can ruin part precision.
How to Calibrate
Place level on a 0-grade calibration table (flatness ≤0.0005 mm/100mm).
Rotate 180°. Check bubble position mismatch.
Adjust twist screws to realign the vial.
Verify: After 180° turn, deviation ≤0.0005° (bubble shift ≤1/4 grid).
